a documentary exposes the horror of life in Saudi Arabia: why does Britain cosy up to this kingdom of savagery?

This Daily Mail (UK) article doesn't mince words.  The short one-word answer, of course, is oil.  And because they have so much money from selling it, Saudi Arabia (or Saudi Barbaria as it should be called) is a good market for selling things: arms in the case of the U.S., food commodities in the case of NZ.

Few people would care about the human rights abuses there if it wasn't for the fact that Saudi Arabia exports its extremist Salafism/Wahhabism ideology by pouring money into Islamic centers around the world, a total put at over $100 million in the last 3 decades.

Saudi practices have clearly provided the model for many ISIS practices, to the extent that many suspect the Saudi Barbarians of supporting ISIS.  However, while many individual Saudis openly support ISIS, we think the Saudi government probably views ISIS, if not as bandits, then at least as a nuisance.
