Ticlio station, Peru, the world's highest railway station before 2006


Opened in 1893 and stated here to be at 15,665 ft (4,775 metres) elevation, on the Lima-Huancayo line. This status was superseded in 2006 with the opening of the Qinghai to Tibet railway in China on which the highest point is Tanggula at 16,627 ft (5,068 metres).
