railway grain wagon, Gisborne, 1970

A Gisborne company had a contract to supply the Poultryman's Cooperative in New Plymouth (about 600 km away) with grain, so built this customized freight car with separate compartments for different grain types.

Today with the Gisborne to Napier part of the route having been Steven Joyced, it would go all the way by road.
