Just came across your blog. Very nice shot of an SF Daylight which actually is leaving San Francisco on its way south to LA. This shot was taken before the building of I-280 probably near the 16th Street acrossing just as the tracks entered the Potrero Hill tunnels. Emeryville is north of Oakland in the East Bay. The Daylight went no further north than the SP Station at 3rd and Townsend Sts. That's where the tracks ended on the west side of the SF Bay. When I was a kid, if one wanted to connect with a train heading north to Sacramento and beyond, one would have to take a ferry boat (a service operated by SP) to Oakland. That was a thrill in itself! Thanks for the picture.
