The plant was established in 1942 during WW2 about half way across the huge country. It was reconstructed in the period from 1969 to 1973, equipped with a number of new workshops. A total of 2253 steam engines and about 8000 electric locomotives were restored here in the first 60 years.  It employs about 2,000 people. (more pics at englishrussia.com)
