transport theme for this year's Wellington Film Festival

The poster for it (above) has such a theme anyway.  It looks a bit like a Waiheke Island car ferry in a harbour environment that has elements of Wellington, fantasised more than a little.

The most obvious such film in the program is the closing night feature Drive (USA, 2011) which looks like something petrol heads will enjoy; likewise Senna (UK/France/USA, 2011) about Formula One champion Ayrton Senna.  Meek's Cutoff (USA, 2010) is about a wagon train in 1845 lost somewhere in Oregon, and there is a newly restored version of Taxi Driver (USA, 1976).

Otherwise this 40th anniversary program contains over 400 features and shorts from several countries, plenty to satisfy a full range of interests.
